Lee Plumber
Biography
Lee Plumber (October 18, 1957, London) is an English painter, photographer and performance artist, master of metaphysical hyperrealism.
Plumber studied at the University of Fine Arts in London and was awarded the Master Class prize in painting and the Kardinal Mind prize in Photomontage.
His early works consisted mainly of hyper-realistic watercolors of retouched Piranesi ruins, as well as performances – often with female models – in public places. Plumber is a conceptual artist, primarily interested in psychological anxiety, as well as historical and mythological themes. As a result, his work is often regarded as classical although it is true that his technique is considered modern.
Plumber has worked as a painter, muralist, photographer, sculptor and performance artist, using a wide variety of techniques and media. He is also known for his costume design and theatrical scenography.
Some of his best known exhibitions include “Classic Minds” “Angels over the city”, “L.A. Monsters” or “Human Gargoyles” (see below)
